BentleySupersports Continental

Bentley Continental Supersports. Modelo 2009.The Supersports Continental is a variant of the Bentley GT (coupe a 4.8 m long) that has the peculiarity that is ready to be run on gasoline or E85 fuel (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline).

Will be available in autumn 2009. Bentley plans in 2012, all models can operate with this fuel.

The engine is basically the same using the same models with Bentley name 'Continental', a 6.0-liter W12 engine capacity but with the changes required to run on E85, and to provide more potentecia (630 hp ).

Have an automatic gearbox, specific to this model (model "6HP26", manufactured by ZF), developed to select the gears more quickly than do other crates Automatic Bentley Continental.

Bentley Continental Supersports. Model 2009.Respecto the Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed, the Supersports weighs 110 kg less and has a few different settings on your chassis, so you have a more precise answer.

To reduce weight, Bentley Supersports has dispensed in the two rear seats have carbon ceramic brakes (instead of a cast iron) and forged aluminum wheels (20 "). The interior materials are carbon fiber in the structure of the seats and in some panels at the rear of the body, which also help reduce weight.

There are several changes to settings for suspension from any other Continental GT. The stabilizer bars are new, as well as aluminum arms (some lighter and with higher resistance). There are new caps, the rear track is 50mm wider (due to increased movement of its new tire), the address has a different setting and the body is somewhat closer to the ground (10 mm). Like other models in the brand, has a hardness variable suspension ( "CDC"), but with specific settings for this model. The front brake discs are 420 mm in diameter and 356 mm rear. Their attachments are eight pistons.

Have permanent total traction, but with a 40:60 torque distribution (at the front and rear respectively, provided that conditions are optimal grip) instead of 50:50 which the Bentley GT. To facilitate the acceleration at the exit of the slow curve, adjusting the stability control is specific to this model.

Some details that distinguish this release are some vents on the bonnet and a different inlets in the front bumper. The rear bumper also has a different design than a Bentley GT.

Details of the engine and fuel E85

One solution to this engine gives more power than other models in the range of that take, more pressure has been supplied.

Bentley Continental Supersports. 2009.El Model E85 has a calorific value much lower than that of gasoline, this has resulted in increased fuel consumption by 30 per cent. The disadvantage in the calorific value of ethanol is compensated because their rate is very high octane number (RON 105), which allows, in this case, much ignition advance.

The engine of the Continental Supersport has a sensor that identifies the fuel being used at any time, in light of this change to its operation the maximum power is always at 630 hp.

The reason for using a 15% gasoline, is that the amount needed to start the engine cold more easily. Ethanol requires three times more heat to evaporate the gasoline and thus in a very cold carburation is not possible because it leads to evaporate altogether.

From the standpoint of building the engine, ethanol requires special materials throughout the fuel pipe system: tank, pump piping and connections, as it is corrosive. In addition, Bentley has also changed the coating of valves and their support (they have to be more resistant), and spark plugs.

When burning gasoline, diesel or other fossil fuel is sent into the atmosphere as CO2 an amount of carbon that was previously underground. When it burns E85, the amount of carbon dioxide that is added to the atmosphere is only 15% gasoline in it.

The combustion of pure ethanol does not add C02 to the atmosphere, because CO2 that comes originally from the atmosphere, which plants absorb it to perform its vital functions. Ethanol (ethyl alcohol) is a hydrocarbon that can be more or less of any organic matter is the same alcohol consumed in fermented or distilled beverages. Today, it gets, especially sugarcane.
