BMW Series 1

The BMW 1 Series is rear wheel drive passenger cars and length similar to an Audi A3 or a Renault Megane. Is available with a body of 3, 4 (coupé), or 5-door convertible (image of the four types of body). In these articles there is information the 1 Series 1 Series Coupe and convertible.

The 1 Series was introduced in 2004 and late 2007 BMW made some changes in this model. Here is information on the evolution of this model from the beginning.

News of the range in 2009

The Series 1, 3 or 5 doors to the 2009 range is available with four petrol engines and four diesel. Two of them are new and match the versions 116i and 116d.

The 116i (petrol) ceases to carry a motor of 1.6 liters and 122 hp to move to take over a cylinder (2 liters) and the same potency (comparative form of the three versions that have existed 116i.). It's the same block have the 118i and 120i (143 hp and 170 hp respectively).

Meanwhile, extending the range with the diesel 116d, which has the same engine of 2.0 liters and 120 days of the 118d (143 hp and 177 hp) with 115 hp. The most powerful diesel 123D is 204 hp.

BMW 116i with the 2.0 liters engine performance is slightly better than the 1.6 version that it replaces. The speed limit remains the same (204 km / h) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h improvement (from 10.1 to 9.8 s). The average consumption remains the same (5.8 l/100 km). These figures are similar to those of standard features like the Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and the Volvo C30 with petrol engines between 120 and 125 hp (tab comparative benefits and consumption).

The new 116d has some very good benefits for their power (115 hp). Reaches 200 km / h and reaches 100 km / h from standing in 10.2 s. It is slower than the 118d, but the difference is largely irrelevant (comparative tab between 116d and 118d). The 116d is the average consumption of 4.4 l/100 km, very similar to the Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and Volvo C30 diesel engines between 105 and 110 hp, or access to their respective ranges (comparative tab benefits and consumption).

One of the most important series 1 in 2009 is that the tires "Run Flat" are no longer standard on all versions. Become optional across the range except in the two most powerful options (123D 204 hp and 265 hp 130I), where they remain as standard. The BMW 1 Series is more expensive than most models between 4.20 and 4.40 meters. For example, the most affordable petrol (116i 3p) costs € 23,900, between 1,400 and 3,000 € more than cars as the Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and the Volvo C30 engine with similar performance (comparative price sheet). Other are less costly alternatives, such as the Peugeot 308 or Honda Civic.

The 1 Series does not have an abundant variety of equipment. Instead, you can optionally have a large number of elements that are not available in most cars of this size but are usually a high price. The quality of finish is above average, especially in the printing of transmitting sound.

All versions have six airbags and lamps surface variable. Other items that may have the Series 1 is a lighting system with adaptive lighting function and cornering light side and a connection for portable music devices or USB memory, near the handbrake. The connection type "mini jack is standard, while the USB is optional.

There are options that should be standard on a car of this price, such as networks on the back of the front seats and the trunk or reading lights.

All versions of series 1 may have an option called 'M Sport Package "(from 1902 to 3927 with € 3-door body and € 1784 to 3473 with 5-door body) that includes, among other things, some decorative elements for the bodywork and larger wheels. Driving and occupant

Unlike other models, the 1 Series has rear, rather than front-wheel drive or full. Since the stability control is standard equipment of which is rear traction is not a problem and it brings some practical advantages such as greater ability to maneuver and a tire wear more evenly.

The stability is not better than some models of front-wheel drive. The Series 1 has a good touch, but not a smaller version of the 3 Series, a model that may have a higher accuracy and less sensitivity to strong accelerations or decelerations in the curve. The suspension seems more advisable that has the serial. The 120i has a very nice motor. Gives a performance standard for power in relation to other air vehicles, but is slower than similar cars with turbocharged engines. The interesting thing about this engine is that, considering its power, engine capacity and fuel type, you can spend very little.

The 120 days is in between the cars like Diesel, the best performance. Although it only has 7 hp more than the 120i, the feeling that gives the lead and measure performance is that the Diesel has a lot more force. The drawback is that its 120 days of the motor can be rough when idling or running at low speed (no road), something that does not happen in the 120i.

In the front seats of the BMW 1 Series travel well even people high in the rear no. In front, the seats are good (especially the optional ones) and the driving position very comfortable for almost everyone. A car is recommended for those who value low and go sit with legs stretched, as in a coupe.
