Audi R8

The Audi R8 is a two-seater coupe with central rear engine 420 hp, aluminum and traction total. Has a size similar to a Lamborghini Gallardo or a Porsche 911. Is for sale from € 121,100 to € 129,220 manual and with automatic. A Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe costs € 111,616, has a 385 hp engine and traction total.

The price for the R8 are not included items such as the browser, the shipper or the connection disc 'Bluetooth' for the phone. One of the most striking elements of the optional R8 are headlamps with LEDs for the lights crossing the road and intermittent. This option is priced at € 4560 (more information) and we could not test it (the units that we had had the xenon headlights as standard).

Audi has done with the R8 coupe with a very good dynamic qualities. By the response of the engine and the chassis tuning is one of the references between cupés sporting a similar price. Stability is a sorpredente level and at the same time, conveys a sense of security that the cars are hard facts to be as fast on the curve.

A Porsche 911 is undoubtedly more demanding with the driver and only seems clearly superior to the R8 for its extraordinary ability to stop and it has a touch more direct steering and precise (which will see some drivers). A BMW M6 is a luxury coupe can be faster in a straight line, but is far from being a sport such as the Audi R8.

The worst of the Audi R8 has to do with either of the two gear boxes that can have. The manual (six-speed with a clutch bidisco), because the gears are sometimes difficult, partly because of the grid which is at the base of the lever, if not take the bottle and less aggressive with the hands driver, maybe things would improve greatly.

The automatic "R-Tronic" six-speed also, because for a normal driving not 'know' change smoothly, and whether the full potential, because the changes are sudden acceleration is interrupted briefly. This lack of acceleration time is not a problem on the road (from the standpoint of benefits) but the abruptness may slightly alter the trajectory.

This automatic "R-Tronic 'costs € 8120 more than manual box. Has the sequential control lever on the steering wheel. This is an automatic motorized variant of the manual, not a change in the dual-clutch 'S-Tronic' other Audi models (DSG in Volkswagen). Developments of this box are the same as in the manual.

The R8's brakes comply, but in neither of the two pieces of evidence, had a particularly good touch or get very short braking distances. In km77.com we tested the R8 with brakes as standard in some ceramic option (€ 11,200) that we know what results occur.

The R8's engine is very good from the standpoint of performance and throttle response. Spindle motor is a fast (speed rises strongly up to 8000 rpm), but to almost any system because it has surprised a very direct and forceful response to the accelerator, which makes it very pleasant to use. The drawback is that this car is that it has a high consumption, even at a moderate pace motorway (more driving impressions).

The Audi R8 has many disadvantages for everyday use in a city because the body makes little visibility on corners and some need much space to turn. It has two beds and a small and usable trunk.

Within its spectacular body has room to spare for two occupants (if you measure less than 1.9 m).

Access to or exit from the interior is very uncomfortable because the seats are very close to the ground away from the outside. Moreover, the gap is between the steering wheel and holding the side of the back often enough to come out with cleaning.

There are two types of seats. The optional sports are more uncomfortable, especially for people bodied but better grip the body (to adjust the lateral support outside of the thighs and back).

The R8 is not unbearable to travel at a normal pace, but the suspension is stiff and comes into a lot of noise from various sources (engine, aerodynamics and rolling). As a luxury coupe to travel comfortably, the R8 is any less than any BMW 6 Series coupe and Mercedes-Benz (except the SLR, I have not tested). More impressions of the interior.
