The Grand Voyager is a minivan and seven large squares. Is only available with a diesel engine of 163 hp and an automatic gearbox six speeds.
The most interesting aspect of this car which is easy to distribute inside a convenience. All seats in the second and third row can be hidden in a hollow below ground, without dismantling.
Not many carriers of this size with which to compare, but considering what it costs, it is desirable that certain plastic coatings were of higher quality.
The Grand Voyager is available with three equipment levels: LX, Touring and 'Limited', the price of 40,390 € (all prices on the Chrysler Grand Voyager).
It is much more expensive than a Ssangyong Rodius. The more expensive version of the Grand Voyager ( 'Limited', € 51,200) is less than the Mercedes-Benz R Class 280 CDI Long (with diesel engine of 190 hp and costs 54,700 €): The R Class is a vehicle of higher quality but less comprehensive and equipped.
The body of the Grand Voyager measured 5143 mm long, 1954 mm wide and 1750 mm high. It is a big vehicle, so it may be difficult to maneuver with it in some garages.
To access the interior has four side doors, two conventional and two front runners for the second and third row of seats. In versions' Touring 'and' Limited ', the sliding side doors and tailgate is electrically operated.
Inside there are seven seats, with two individual seats in the second row and a bench of three seats on the third. Although it is approved for seven, only six will travel comfortably, because the rear seat is tight for three adults. Rodius in this last one row of seats is a bit more space but three adults are not good. The Grand Voyager is not much more space for six occupants that a Renault Grand Espace, but clearly has more luggage when all seats are used.
In most of the carriers, for a flat cargo area, or remove the seats and fell above the floor. In the Chrysler Grand Voyager, when you depress the seats are below the floor level.
The first system has the disadvantage that the seats are heavy and have to have a place to store them. The second is more comfortable, but since the seats remain above the floor, remaining cargo volume. The Chrysler system seems preferable as well, when all seats are in the service position, the site remains under the floor can be used to store objects, like chests (image).
The folding operation is manual for versions less equipped. Versions' Limited 'is an electrical device (middle image) that automatically changes the position of the third row, either to hunt or collect it and use it as a place for the outside world.
Since summer 2008 will be available the 'Swivel' n Go "which allows the seats rotate 180 degrees in the second row, to cope with the 3rd, and includes a removable table that is between the two rows. This system eliminates the possibility of saving the two center seats under the floor because they are bigger (need to be because his back is stronger, since they have integrated safety belts). In this case, the space for these seats can be allocated permanently to store objects.
The equipment is very wide for comfort. Depending on the version may include items such as curtains, shutters on the second and third row of seats, a removable flashlight in the trunk, a stereo with a browser, color touchscreen, 20 GB hard drive and USB jack, camera rear view and two screens in the middle of the roof so that the occupants of the second and third row can watch DVD movies, or connect a games console or other compatible media player.
There are some elements that are missing (or can not be an option) as the connection automatic lights, an active lighting system or keyless entry and start.
There are some more or less interesting as the interior mirror to monitor the rear row (picture), good lighting and the interior compartment that slides along the ceiling. There are lots of cupholders and a console between the front seats that has longitudinal adjustment of 53 cm so that passengers can use the second row (picture).
For response and stability, the Grand Voyager is well suited to a quiet driving lanes wide. Even if it goes better than the earlier Voyager, if there are many curves evidenced its size and its soft comfortable suspension. The smaller carriers have a distinct advantage of flexibility regarding the Grand Voyager, such as the Ford Galaxy.
Road goes fast because you can sustain a relatively high speed without too many problems. What we have is not enough power to gain speed quickly in demanding conditions (with high load or high road gradient) to advance or if it is not possible to anticipate the maneuver.
The engine has four cylinders, 2.8 liter displacement and 163 hp. It is a variant of the 150 hp engine which was the previous Voyager. Regarding the latter, has 13 more hp, variable turbocharger, piezoelectric injectors and intake variable. It is noisy and vibrates a lot at idle. Fuel consumption is moderate (more on driving impressions)
The automatic gearshift is smooth, but improvement. No retention (put gear when the driver lifts his foot from the accelerator, for example, in a steep descent) and the answer apparently filtered much of the engine (torque converter slip: When you depress the accelerator, for a few shows much that the engine speed climbs, but does not feel the same acceleration).
Fuel cap is locked. Must be removed to open the sword that is stored within the remote control as the key that is used to start it is electronic.
The previous generation Voyager was available with two different body length (more information).
