Lancia Delta

The Lancia Delta is a tourism body with five doors. The range consists of four finishes - "Argento", "Gold", "Platinum" (differences) and "Executive" - and diesel or gasoline engines up to 190 or 200 hp, respectively. All engines have boost (data sheets for all versions).

Since September 2009, has a gasoline engine of 1.7 liters (although Lancia known as 200 bhp 1.8 Di Turbojet is of 1,742 cm ³) and 200 hp, only with an automatic gearbox six relations and finishes available initially " Gold "and" Platinum. " The price set for the finish "Gold" of this engine is of 29,490 Euros (without taking into account any discounts).

During this year there are news in equipment for the whole range: finish "Executive" electronic suspension of varying hardness and system "Blue & Me Nav 'with more features (image) and a new browser (which carries the Delta 1.8 Di TurboJet 200 hp from the beginning), with the memory map on an SD card (which take up most digital cameras pocket) instead of the traditional disk.

Some considerations on the range

Delta prices are between € 18,990 and € 31,990. The more affordable version with a diesel engine (Argento Delta 1.6 Multijet 120 bhp) costs € 21,990, € 7,510 more than a Fiat Bravo of similar power, which is slightly smaller and has less equipment, equating to the extent possible, the difference is € 4,710 .

You can have rare items of equipment in cars such as the automatic parking system ("Active Parking System), the warning of involuntary change lanes ('Driving Advisor') and suspension with variable damping hardness ( "Reactive Suspension System). Some of these elements are not yet available or are only some versions.

Best of Lancia Delta is the carrier of the space for the legs in the rear seats. The trouble is that this space is not usable for tall people, since the ceiling height does not. Nor is large in relation to the width of the body, so three adults will be comfortable in the rear seats.

The standard rear bench has a system to advance or delay 80 mm, which can be very useful because it allows to increase the size of the boot if necessary.

The front seats are placed at the normal height. This makes it easier while driving and most drivers is easier to enter and exit the car. Depending on the version, can be upholstered in fabric (Microlux), leather or Alcantara, materials are also used in some of the door panels.

The coating materials are generally of good quality and most of the settings are correct, although some details neglected. There are also quality details, like the rubber coating in the small gaps that exist in the armrests on all doors (very useful) or extensible curtain system to cover the space between the rear window and seat backs .

Engines

Turbo Jet version 1.4, which is what we have been able to prove in detail (more on driving impressions) is an interesting alternative to diesel 165 hp, the engine running nice and because its benefits are very similar. The price difference between them are in favor of € 2,600 on gasoline, with diesel only be redeemed if done over 135,000 km (with reference to the average prices of petrol and diesel in September 2008 .)

The two most powerful diesel engines are new within the Fiat group (more on these engines) and have a smooth operation. I was struck by the lack of vibration at speed when rotating at only 1,200 rpm in higher gear. And just because of this I seem preferable, since it is not something common in modern diesel engines. The 190 hp I found stronger, but until we measure the performance of both versions will not know if there is a big difference in performance between the two (comparison chart with public benefits). The 200 bhp petrol also runs smoothly and delivers useful power from very low rpm.

The 120 bhp 1.6 Multijet is the same as Bravo may have. Enough to travel with him to a normal rhythm. In town is pleasant to drive and smooth response.

Besides these three there are three other diesel fuel. Two 1.4-liter engine, with 120 or 150 hp. These engines have the designation 1.4 Turbo Jet and also may have the Fiat Bravo (in the variant of 120 hp is also available for the Grande Punto and the line).

The other engines have manual gearboxes with six gears. Soon, for the 1.6 16v Multijet 120 bhp will be an automatic gearbox (gear pairs) with 6-speed, called Selectronic.

Equipment

Stability Control ("ESC") of Delta has new features. One is the recommendation of direction: to oversteer, steering assistance is increased or reduced to enable the driver turn the wheel to the right direction (in any case revolves on its own). The other feature, called 'TTC' (Torque Transfer Control or torque transfer control), acts as a limited slip differential.

It also can be equipped with automatic parking system (last button on the left side of this picture) and a system that warns the driver if the car leaves the path marked by the stripes of the road (last button on the right column).

Model 2008The automatic parking system calculates whether the gaps in available on the right side of the car fits the Delta, taking into account that requires more than 1.3 m that measures to make the maneuver. Other information

Delta shares elements of its structure with the Fiat Bravo, but the former has a higher body length. The wheelbase of both models is also different: the Bravo is 2.6 m and 2.7 m Delta, a very large value (the same as a Fiat Croma or an Alfa 159).

The suspension is McPherson strut front and pulled arm torsion beam cross back. The Delta may have an electronic system for variable adjustment of the hardness of the dampers ("SDC" Synaptic Damping Control).

The owner of a Delta may use a free service that includes collection of the vehicle for periodic review.

Lancia has set itself the objective in Spain sold 1,700 units of the new Delta during the second half of 2008, and 5,000 in 2009. The sales target of this model worldwide for 2009 is 70,000 units.

The final design of the Lancia Delta changed little from its prototype, the Delta HPE Concept. Between 1979 and 1999 Lancia three series of cars sold under the name Delta. The Delta 2008 has released the new Lancia logo.
